What We Believe

mezuzah
  • We believe that the Bible (Torah, Nevi'im, Ketuvim, Brit Chadasha), as written,  is the completed scripture to date.
  • We believe that ALL scripture is profitable for Doctrine, Reproof, and Instruction in Righteousness (2 Tim 3:16-17 )
  • We Believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah (Christ), and fully paid the penalty for all sin
  • We Believe that salvation is by grace through  FAITH. We further believe that FAITH was, is and will be the only means to obtain eternal life (salvation)
  • We also Believe that FAITH without works, is dead
What makes one a Messianic? Our definition is going to be quite loose to make it more inclusive. Any combination of the following makes one Messianic.

  • Recognition that Torah is still applicable, and that Messiah Yeshua didn't come to destroy(nullify, annul)  Torah, but to bring fullness of meaning to it.
  • Keeping of the Biblical Feasts
  • Keeping of Shabbat (sabbath)
  • Keeping Kosher

Sukkot

Sukkot, or "Feast of Booths" celebrates the final fall harvest and is the last of God's appointed feasts. Booth-like structures are built as a reminder of the tempory dwelling of the Israelites in the wilderness.

Torah being carried under a chupah

I recently came across this picture that fully represents to me, what this feast truly represents. In this picture, the orthodox Jews are carrying the Torah underneath a chupah (sukkot) made with the tallits (covering) of those that carry it.

Sukkot is a festival of the Kingdom of Messiah, where he will come to live and tabernacle with us forever.

Take a moment and consider the significance and realization of what this picture represents. Orthodox Jews, rejoice in Torah, the Word of YHVH, and Christians Rejoice in Yeshua the Word of YHVH. How much more spectacular would it be if both realized how each has a view that the other needs!

The picture above is closely mirrored to that of a Hebraic Wedding, the joining together of the bride and the groom under the chupah, the repsentaion of the covering of the bridegroom (tallit). This picture is found in both the Torah, Exodus 19 , and in Revelation 19:7 , Rev:19:9.

When the Messiah comes back, after Israel's final day of atonement, sukkot will be celbrated by all in Jerusalem. Zechariah 14:16 ; Leviticus 23:33-36 ; Psalm 23 ; Isaiah 43:1-9 ; Matt 22:1-14

Newsflash

So the topic of "Faith verses Works" came up again, and once again, people think that keeping the commandments is "trying to earn salvation".

Invariably the idea of "earning salvation" always comes up during the discussion what it means to keep the commandments and "works" are. One thing I noticed this... Read more...
