Spring has sprung, but with a dread in the air like I've not felt in some time. World is in turmoil, earthquakes triggering tsunamis and nuclear disaster. Israel is appearing to be alone in the world as the U.S. backs away.
And yet, I'm thankful that I've reached this season once again. As I was reworking the Passover Haggadah and getting it published, I kept reading the Dayenu (it would have been sufficient) section over and over. Then a friend of mine remarked that Dayenu didn't mean much to them, that they wanted more of YHVH...

We just finished revising our Passover Haggeddah for 2011. The size and format of this is designed for printing in booklet form, two pages per sheet, double sided.

I've been pondering a whole range of related scriptures lately, and I've been kind of focusing on the upcoming Feast of Shavuot (Weeks, Pentecost). I started by reviewing the "counting of the omer", which people count the days to fifty, and recalling scripture tells us to count sabbaths (not days) ...
Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
Lev 23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; [they are] the firstfruits unto the LORD.

Passover Thoughts 2010 (Part 2)
As we cry out to YHVH, and we don't get the answer we want, in the time or manner we want, what does it really mean?
Here the children of Israel are stranded in a strange land, serving their task masters with hard labor, sweat and blood. Their task masters have decreed the unthinkable, that children will have to die. They are crying out to YHVH to send them a Savior, and still nothing.
Exodus 2:23-25 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto [them].
