yomteruahYom Teruah marks the beginning of the Jewish civil year and is the Jewish New Year's Day. YHVH commanded the blowing of trumpets on the first day of the seventh month to call the congregation for a very solemn assembly. Traditionally Yom Teruah is a time ofself-evaluation and repentance. For those who know the Messiah, it is a time of praise because we know that we have eternal forgiveness in Him.

You can read about the feast here ... Leviticus 23:24-25

Suggested Readings for Yom Teruah: Joshua 6 , Joel 2 , Jeremiah 31:1-9 , Psalm 5 ,Psalm 66 , Psalm 81 , Psalm 98 , Matt 24:29-31 and Psalm 100

The Holy Day of Yom Teruah (Trumpets) is called the "day that no man knoweth" because of the uncertanty of viewing a new moon on the 28th or 29th day of the lunar (biblical) month.  The Jewish Rabbinical system uses mathmatical calculations to set the date of the new moon and "Rosh Hoshannah" (Jewish "new year"), however they set it for "two days" (just in case). Then there are people like myself who go by the visible sighting of the new moon.  This is kepping in line with the teaching of Messaih about His return ...

Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Yom Teruah marks the second season of repentance during the year.  The first season of repentance is Passover, the season of freedom and renewal and rebirth. This second season of repentance marks the season of finally entering into the Kingdom. One of the best presentations of this is the story of Joshua (Oshea son of Nun, "Yeshua") and Caleb (Gentile Israelite, "dog") leading the children of those that left Egypt into the promise land.

The final scene, the fall of Jericho is marked by blowing of trumpets and a very loud "Shout". This is the same imagry we see in 1 Thes 4:16 , and later on in Revelation 10:7 . This is no coincedence, Yom Teruah is the day of shouting and noise, and the shofar, and entering into the promise land.

I mentioned earlier, that this is also the second season of repentance. But unlike the first season or repentance, which set us free, and is of newness of life, this second season of repentance is marked by faith, and our failures to head the voice of YHVH. During our walk, we often don't listen to the voice of YHVH, to HIS Ruach haKodesh (Holy Spirit). For those that left Egypt, only two kept the faith well enough to enter into the Land, without dying. The rest had perished in the wilderness, having been saved, seen the miracles and the chastisements during the forty years of wanderings.

This season of repentance is for our "lack" of faith, our unbelief. It was lack of faith that caused the people not to go into the promise land at first. It was bold misplaced faith that then led to the slaughter when they tried to go in on their own. Only Caleb and Joshua walked into the promise land. It was also the Harlot of Jericho that plays an important role here as well. For she had the faith to join Israel and protect the spys, and for that she is rewarded by being in the lineage of Yeshua the Messiah.

So, as you mark Yom Teruah this year, take the time to examine your life, and the choices you've made when you haven't listened to the Voice of YHVH; to HIS Ruach. This is the season to repent of our lack of faith!

However, as you reach Yom Teruah, and mark another season passing, take the time to shout for Joy, the sound the Shofar, the rejoice that you can repent, and enter into the Kingdom. Re-dedicate yourself to following the voice of YHVH, to HIS Ruach.  This is the day that YHVH has made, rejoice and be glad it in!

Yeshua's Instructions to His Disciples : Are you a Disciple of Yeshua or are you someone else's Disciple?

Of all the books of the NT, Matthew must give Christians fits. I have long recognized this but only recently started to put together why so many of them have "excused" Matthew as NOT applying to them, because "it is written for the Jews" (or...
